Choosing a Competitive Rate

eBooks are priced very differently than print books. Generally, they are much, much cheaper. Why? Well, they’re digital, for one. A consumer has already paid a hefty amount for their eReading device, and they don’t want to be shelling out the same price for an eBook as they could for its printed counterpart. eBooks are desirable because they’re cheap.

It’s highly uncommon to see an eBook for over $9.99. It’s very common to see an eBook, particularly one written by an unknown author, to be priced as low as $1.99, or even 99 cents.

If you’re a new author, one good way to encourage sales of your eBook is to price it on the low end. Consumers will be more likely to try it out if it’s the same price (or less) than a cup of coffee.
